Thesis examines the life of prolific composer Sergei Prokofiev and his work for the motion picture Alexander Nevsky. Gary Langford analyzes Prokofiev's use of the brass section in his compositions for the film.

This report was submitted to the Denton County Commissioner’s Court on December 12, 2023. The independent research contained herein was inspired by a collaborative community effort to highlight the emerging historical narrative of the St. John's freed-persons community of Pilot Point, its unexplained disappearance in the 1930s, and the events that led to the community's cemetery becoming landlocked and inaccessible to the public for more than eighty years.

This paper discusses the impact of self-blame on college students who have experienced parental divorce and determines whether separating this blame into behavioral and characterological manifestations can provide useful information for research purposes. Bryce E. Taylor explains the study that was conducted with 220 female college students who completed questionnaires for the project, and the results of the study.

The rheology of 1-8% hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) solutions has been studied in the temperature range of 20-45 degrees Celsius. The results showed that the relative viscosity at each HPC concentration decreases with increasing temperature. The relative viscosity decreases drastically at about 43 degrees Celsius due to a phase transition. The influence of anionic surfactant, sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), induced gelation of a 2% HPC solution. The HPC solutions gelled at surfactant SDS concentrations ranging from 0.4 to 1.0 critical micelle concentration (CMC). The gelation of the HPC/SDS hydrogel is explained in the surfactant SDD - bridged HPC linear polymer chains. The complex viscosity - concentration profile was determined below the CMC of the SDS - water pair. The peak itself was a function of frequency indicating the presence of two relaxation times within the gelled network.

This article describes a study to observe the mechanical properties of bamboo plastic composites with bamboo pulp fiber or white mud.

The purpose of this project was to develop a body of work in which the content has probable, if not definite, cross-cultural application. It was my intent to analyze images for their content and underlying themes. This collection of "image content" was to be used in the production of a body of work which hopefully would transcend cultural bias or limitations. I consulted art and anthropological texts, books, and periodicals (listed in bibliography) which contained images produced by different cultures.

Building predictive models for companies often relies on inference using historical data of companies in the same industry sector. However, companies are similar across a variety of dimensions that should be leveraged in relevant prediction problems. This is particularly true for large, complex organizations which may not be well defined by a single industry and have no clear peers. To enable prediction using company information across a variety of dimensions, we create an embedding of company stocks, Stock2Vec, which can be easily added to any prediction model that applies to companies with associated stock prices. We describe the process of creating this rich vector representation from stock price fluctuations and characterize what the dimensions represent. We then conduct comprehensive experiments to evaluate this embedding in applied machine learning problems in various business contexts. Our experiment results demonstrate that the four features in the Stock2Vec embedding can readily augment existing cross-company models and enhance cross-company predictions.

This paper presents a brief history of the alto flute and discusses its use in the orchestral literature of European, Russian and American composers. Analysis of selected passage from various works determine its use as either a solo instrument, doubling or reinforcing voice, or as part of an accompanying line.

The focus of this creative project was the production and presentation of electronic imagery generated by personal computers and peripherals. By it's nature, electronic imagery is dependent on light. I proposed that the exhibition project would include computer graphics images presented in a variety of formats, both static and moving.

This paper examines the relationship between attachment and separation-individuation through a study completed with 358 students who completed self-reports and four instruments often used to assess attachment and separation-individuation. David T. George identifies three major relevant factors that resulted from analysis of the reports: Connectedness to Parents, Level of Distress, and Sense of Self.
