Interview with Angela Bynum, veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as part of the Tarrant County War Veterans Oral History Project. The interview includes Bynum's personal experiences of childhood and education in California and Texas, enlisting in the U.S. Army, basic and advanced training as a motor transport operator, training in avoidance of improvised explosive devices, and transport missions between Iraq and Kuwait. Bynum also discusses her inability to withstand Airborne training, the decision to leave active duty in 2002, her use of the GI Bill benefits to attend Tarrant Community College, the 2004 call-up from reserve duty and deployment to Iraq, her family's concerns regarding deployment, and aspects of daily life for American soldiers stationed in Iraq.

Interview with Dr. Shazia Ali, a professor from Dallas, Texas. Ali discusses her life and career as a Pakistani-American, including her family origins, growing up in Karachi and Dubai, her education, her work for a newspaper, the slums of Karachi, meeting her husband, being married over the phone, emigrating to Dallas, employment at UT-Dallas, having children, attending Richland College, cultural effects of September 11th, getting a PhD, parenting, and navigating cultures.

Interview with Martin L. Allday, an Army WWII veteran from Austin, Texas. Allday discusses his experiences at the Battle of Okinawa, including being drafted and basic training, transiting the Pacific, assignment to the 96th Infantry Division and arrival on Okinawa, events of the fighting on the Shuri Line at Zebra Hill, being wounded, evacuation and recovery, returning to Okinawa, clean-up operations, souvenirs, and adjustment to civilian life. An appendix includes a letter typed by Allday for a panel discussion of the battle, a map of the battle from "The Second World War: a Complete History" by Martin Gilbert, a veteran's questionnaire from the Admiral Nimitz Museum he filled out, and a one-page biography.

Interview with Fred Agnich, businessman and member of the Texas House of Representatives, Republican. The interview includes Agnich's personal experiences as a member of the 64th Legislature. Agnich talks about the House speakership race, appropriations, committee appointments, the strip mining bill, public school financing, public utilities legislation, constitutional revision, and Governor Dolph Briscoe.

Interview with Ali Heidari, an Iranian immigrant, realtor, and restaurateur from Tehran. Heidari discusses growing up, education, moving to Athens, Texas in 1975, attending UT Arlington, getting into real estate, his family, his reaction to the 1979-81 hostage crisis, experiences as an immigrant in DFW, and his thoughts on American youth and culture.

Interview with Reby Cary, a professor, Texas State legislator, and civil rights activist from Fort Worth, Texas. Cary discusses attending Prairie View A&M, WWII service in the Coast Guard, segregation, his authorship, teaching at Dunbar HS, being the first black member of a schoolboard and the first black professor at UT Arlington, his tenure as a Texas State Congressman, experiences of discrimination, his experiences in the Civil Rights Movement, and his thoughts on Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, and other black leaders. In appendix are photographs of Cary's various awards and the program for a Baptist service celebrated in his honor.

Interview with Joseph McKinley, a United States Navy veteran from Temple, Texas, regarding his experiences and memories of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor of December 7, 1941 while aboard the destroyer USS Cassin.

Interview with O. J. Curry, Dean Emeritus of the College of Business at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, regarding his background growing up on the family farm, his own education, experience as dean and what sort of materials were needed in the business department, staffing difficulties faced there, and changes in the education system over time.

Interview with Kim Phillips, vice-president of the Denton Conventions and Visitors Bureau from Longview, Texas. Phillips discusses her love of Denton, her childhood and education, the music scene, the sense of community,, the CVB's work, local history, Quakertown, the Chamber of Commerce, the black and Hispanic communities, and the Confederate memorial. In appendix is a picture of Denton County Courthouse and the County Confederate Memorial.

Interview with Rula Walid Bibi, Palestinian-born immigrant to Plano, Texas, for the DFW Metroplex Immigrants Oral History Project. The interview includes Bibi's personal experience with discrimination of Palestinians in the Middle East, childhood in Kuwait City, education at the University of Kuwait and Midwestern State University, family experiences during the First Gulf War and circumstances surrounding her immigration to Texas in 1990, thoughts on religion, experiences as a single mother as well as experiences of living in Wichita Falls, Dallas, Richardson, Garland, and Plano. Bibi talks about her first impressions of the U.S., her career in medical technologies, her marriage to an American man and his conversion to Islam, her involvement with political organizations, and thoughts on American education and foreign policy.

Interview with William Havel, an army veteran from Staten Island, New York. This interview recounts his experiences as an adopted child in a farm family and then as a corpsman at Tripler General Hospital during the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Audio interview with Jack Mahan, a teacher, musician, and former student of Colonel Earl D. Irons, regarding his memories of studying under the bandmaster at the University of Texas at Arlington. Mahan discusses his own recollections as well as Colonel's involvement with the American Bandmasters Association and other musical organizations.

Interview with photojournalist and artist Joe Cole. The interview includes Cole's personal experiences about the Texas International Pop Festival. Cole talks about his parents' reaction to changes in the Sixties, his introduction to marijuana, his attraction to the music of the Beatles, his initial introduction to the Fort Worth hippie culture, his views towards the Vietnam war, obtaining an agricultural exemption from his local draft board, Sixties music and its message, his comments about the Chicago Transit Authority, Canned Heat, and Led Zeppelin, activities of the Hog Farm, drug usage at the festival, festival security personnel, "bad trip" tents, skinny-dipping in Lake Dallas, and the lasting influence of the festival on his life.

Interview with Jess Stanbrough, a Texas National Guard WWII veteran from Wichita Falls, Texas, who served and was captured with the 2nd Battalion, 131st Field Artillery (the "Lost Battalion.") Stanbrough discusses his time in the Guard before the war, deployment to the Pacific, the fall of Java and being captured, experiences in internment at Tanjong Priok and Bicycle Camp in Batavia, operating a clandestine radio, transfer to Japan, being an iron smelter at Kamaishi, Honshu, American air and naval bombardment, and liberation.

Interview with Henry B. Stowers, a Marine WWII veteran and POW from Searight, Alabama. Stowers discusses his deployments to China in the late-1930s; duties of the Marines in China before the war; the surrender of the North China Marines in December, 1941; his experiences in internment at Woosung; internment at Kiangwang and working on the "Mount Fuji" project; and internment as coal mining labor at Hakodate.

Interview with Dr. James F. White, minister at the Perkins School of Theology and leader of the Citizens Organization for a Sound Trinity (COST) group, which was in opposition to the Trinity Barge Canal construction project. White provides details about newspaper coverage of the issue, the group's involvement in politics, and his views of other political issues.

Interview with engineer and Army Air Forces veteran Shuford M. Alexander, Jr. The interview includes Alexander's personal experiences about being a fighter pilot in Italy during World War II, basic training, flight training, various assignments and transfers, Operation STRANGLE, being shot down by flak over Piacenza, and being rescued by Italian partisans. Additionally, Alexander talks about his link-up with a British A-4 Mission and his attempt to reach Allied lines, his betrayal by a German agent and his subsequent capture, escaping and continuing his search for Allied lines, his observations and opinions about the partisans, a second encounter with a British A-4 Mission, the Martani family in the village of Tosca, his group's trek through mountain snow to reach Allied lines, meeting with British paratroopers and with African-American soldiers from the 92nd Infantry Division, and his reunion with his squadron in Pisa. The interview includes an appendix with a narrative by Alexander.

Interview with U.S. Navy Seaman, Avionics Technician, and Persian Gulf War-era Veteran Shelley Schnittker for the Women Veterans Oral History Project. The interview includes her experiences with childhood in Arlington and the effects of her parent's divorce. She talks about her experience in drug rehab, reasons for joining the Navy, training in a job recently opened to women, her experience in an all-female company at boot camp, life at duty station in San Diego, California, and the reaction of her family when she told them of her enlistment. It also includes her experience as part of a detachment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation, her thoughts on women in combat and the expanding role of women in the Navy in the early 1990s. She talks about her first marriage, as well as attending Baylor University and the reaction of other students in regards to her veteran status, the lack of support for women veterans at Baylor, the shellback ceremony, and her advice for future generations of women in the military. Interview with P. J. Smallwood, a Texas National Guard WWII veteran and POW from Sherman, Texas. Smallwood recounts his experiences with the "Lost Battallion" which was captured on Java in March, 1942, and his subsequent time as a POW, including: joining the National Guard; mobilization and deployment to East Asia; diversion to Java at the start of the war; the Japanese attack and the unit's capture; and his internment and labor at the Bicycle Camp in Batavia (Jakarta), Changi Camp in Singapore, the "15 Kilo Camp" in Malaysia, where he worked on the Death Railway, Kanchanaburi in Thailand, and Saigon.

Interview with South Carolina-born African American resident of Fort Worth, Texas, Mae Cora Peterson, a non-profit administrator and educator. The interview includes Peterson's personal experiences of childhood on the South Carolina State College campus in Orangeburg, South Carolina, life under the Jim Crow laws, working at Border Mission, her move to and impressions of Fort Worth under Jim Crow laws, graduate school at the University of Michigan, and colorism. Peterson talks about her husband's job at Maxwell Steel in Fort Worth, taking a cruise to Havana, Cuba, on a Jim Crow passenger ship, other blacks' disbelief of privileged childhood and insulation from the full effects of segregation, education jobs at various colleges, working as Executive Secretary for the Fort Worth YWCA, and working as the dean of girls for Fort Worth ISD. Additionally, Peterson gives details on segregated Fort Worth high schools and desegregation, and her trip to London and Paris with her daughter.
