Burial of John B. Denton on the lawn of the Denton County Courthouse. The pall bearers were John W. Gober, E. B. Orr, L. Willis, J. M. Swisher, J. H. Hawkins, W. C. Wright. Rev. J. T. Denton, one of John B. Denton's sons, was in charge of the services. Son John B. Denton, Jr. and grandson Wiliam Baker were also present.

The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union And Confederate Armies. Series 3, Volume 5.

Records of the War of the Rebellion include copies of army correspondence (reports, letters, telegrams, and general orders) from both the Union and Confederate Armies discussing their operations. The third series, according to the preface in Series 1, Volume 1 contains "the correspondence, orders, reports, and returns of the Union authorities (embracing their correspondence with the Confederate officials) not relating specially to the subjects of the first and second series. It will set forth the annual and special reports of the Secretary of War, of the General-in-Chief, and of the chiefs of the several staff corps and departments; the calls for troops, and the correspondence between the National and the several State authorities" (p. iv). Index starts on page 1051.

On pages 1177-1178, there is a list of alternate names/designations of organizations mentioned in the text; index starts on page 1179.
