This presentation includes a discussion of the history of the very controversial “N” word, a word marked as derogatory for African Americans. It seeks to answer the age old question “Can I say it?” With that regard, one should always utilize AAA when in question. That is Access, Authority, and Authenticity: consider each and its bearing on you and the word, your position, and your intent.

Shawn Brewer from Peterbilt Motors, the division’s partners in the Peterbilt Corporate-Collegiate evening event, introduces their diversity council and says a few words on Peterbilt’s commitment to advancement, equity, and inclusion practices. Dr. Saili Bhonde from Denton Family Dental presents the Inclusive Excellence Award to the Office of Outreach and Admissions. Dr. Saili Bhonde and her team sponsored the award for the 2019 year. Those who received the award were Landon Ellison as the Director of Outreach and Rebeca Perfecto as the Assistant Director of Freshman Admissions.
