This movie documents "An Oral History of Denton," an event organized by the Denton County League of Women Voters for Women's History Month and hosted by Texas Woman's University. Panelists answer a series of questions about their early life and first impressions of Denton; segregation in Denton's schools and businesses and the impact of the Brown v. Board of Education decision on Denton County schools; the role of the University of North Texas faculty, Trinity Presbyterian Church, First Methodist Church, Mt. Pilgrim in Southeast Denton, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church on the formation of the Denton Women's Interracial Fellowship; experiences of gender discrimination; their experiences of joining the League of Women Voters; their first voting experience; their political or feminist inspirations; the possibility of a woman President of the United States; the value and purpose of International Women's Day; discrimination in present-day life in Denton County; and the panelists' thoughts on the future for women and minorities in the U.S. It concludes with an audience question-and-answer session including topics such as continued racial division and re-segregation in Denton, celebrations of International Women's Day, the impact of actions of Texas female politicians such as Ann Richards and Wendy Davis, societal expectations …

Additionally, Dunkins speaks about off-campus life in "Shack Town" and support from black citizens of Denton, social life among African-American students and relations with white students and faculty, efforts to desegregate public facilities in Denton, and his summer jobs with Texas & Pacific Railroad Company. Armstrong talks about business activities around the city square and county courthouse, city streetcar service, Oak Street residences, the Cascade Plunge swimming pool, forced removal of African Americans from the "Quakertown" section of Denton to the east side of the railroad tracks in the 1920s, early automobiles in Denton, Denton during World War I, medical practices, childhood leisure time activities, Prohibition in Denton, the Great Depression, farming practices in the 1920s and 1930s, contrasts between banking practices of the 1920s and 1930s with those of the 1980s, and the oil history.

Announcement about the schedule, tuition, and courses of Denton School in Denton, Texas in the year 1884. The announcement also contains a list of faculty and information about the city of Denton. Denton's first public school began on March 17 and ended on July 4. The first session had 425 students. [A History of the Denton Independent School District: a centennial project / by the centennial committee, 1985] The name Lee Preston is written in pen on the back of the announcement. Lee Preston was a teacher and later, mayor of Denton.
