The purposes of this study are to survey the growth of safety concepts in industry and in school shops, to point out the fundamental factors involved in a functioning and worthwhile program of safety education in secondary schools, and to indicate safe practices to be followed by operators of machines in wood and metal shops in secondary schools in order to minimize to the utmost the possibility of accident in such shops, and to set forth a recommended procedure embodying a program of safety for wood and metal shops in secondary schools.

The purpose of this study is to find and evaluate a course in crafts in a small rural school with the hope that it may be of some value to teachers in rural districts, and that it may help provide a more general education for the rural school child.

The problem at hand is an attempt to evaluate the industrial-arts shops of three schools on the basis of pupil interests. Primary emphasis will be placed upon the various interests of industrial-arts pupils, and then the shops will be studied for the purpose of discovering whether they foster such interests as the pupils may have been shown to possess.

The problem was to design and construct the necessary equipment to cut and fasten short stock end to end using finger-joints. The study was divided into five chapters: I contained the introduction to the problem; II was concerned with the design and construction of the equipment; III detailed the operation of the equipment; IV contained the presentation of the data; and V covered the summary and findings. The study concluded that the equipment could be constructed inexpensively, and would perform a useful service. Also, a student using waste wood salvaged through use of this equipment could expect a smaller bill for materials than if he purchased new wood.

The purpose of this thesis is to present a beginning program of vocational guidance through the commercial department of the small high school. Guidance, whether in the field of personality, education, health, financial, or occupational guidance, must be developed over a period of months and years. This study will deal only with the personnel, activities, and materials needed to introduce such a vocational guidance program.

The problem in this study has been to analyze the vocabulary needs in the field of Library Service and to develop a professional tool, including an English-French glossary of approximately fifteen hundred terms concerning the making, the acquisition, and the organization of books as related to Library Service.

This study attempted to determine the extent to which libraries in the small affiliated high schools of Navarro County, Texas, are taking care of students' reading interests. This study is made with the purpose of adding teachers and librarians in the selection of reading materials for recreational and class use.

This study involves the examination of the major approaches to the social sciences in order to discover whether they are so arranged as to insure democratic practices that are implied or expressed in the Declaration of Independence, the preamble to the Constitution, and the Constitution. It involves the study of the philosophy underlying American democracy of "the yesterdays" and today. A further exploration is made to determine whether the various approaches are based on what psychology has discovered as to the way in which effective learning takes place.

It is the purpose of the present investigation to make an examination of the moral content of literature taught in the schools from 1600 to 1800, from 1800 to 1900, and from 1900 to 1940, and to draw conclusions as to the values of such literature. In the literature examined in this study, both the moral content and the methods used in presentation will be considered.
