The following report presents results of the Sonora Pass, California detailed geochemical survey. Field and laboratory data are presented for 15 groundwater and 701 stream sediment samples.

This report is the first volume of a two-part set documenting the results of the analyses of the airborne gamma radiation and total magnetic field survey that was flown for the Needles National Topographic Map NI11-6.

Report describing the results of a literature search, a limited chemical analytical program, and visits to three alkaline-rock localities intended to establish criteria for determining if a site had uranium resource potential. The criteria were applied to various sites in the U.S.; those results are also reported, with additional information about ongoing study.

From deposit: Since 1975 a cooperative effort between the United States Department of Energy, United States Geological Survey, Geological Survey of Wyoming, the Geology Department, University of Wyoming, and various industry groups has resulted in the discovery of a series of uraniumthorium-and gold-bearing conglomerates in Late Archean and Early Proterozoic metasedimentary rocks of southern Wyoming. The mineral deposits were found by applying the time and strata bound model for the origin of uranium-bearing quartz-pebble conglomerates to favorable rock types within a geologic terrane known from prior regional mapping.

The survey covered in this documentation was conducted in Southcentral Alaska that included the Cook Inlet and Kenai Peninsula regions of Alaska comprising six quadrangles. The survey was performed between 1976 and 1978 under the United States Department of Energy's National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) Program. This program provides information on reconnaissance radioelement distribution to assist in assessing the uraniferous material potential in the United States.

From abstract: Twenty-two holes totaling 34,874 feet (10,629.6 meters) were rotary and core drilled on the northern and western flanks of the San Rafael Swell to test fluvial-lacustrine sequences of the Morrison Formation and the lower part of the Chinle Formation. The objective of the project was to obtain subsurface data so that improved uranium resource estimates could be determined for the area.

From summary: As the principal objective of this study is to identify the most useful geologic characteristics, referred to as recognition criteria, and develop a method for their systematic use in resource studies and exploration, the important geologic observations on the uranium deposits of South Texas are briefly summarized below.
