["Gospel Counts" concert audio tape]

Audio cassette from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters recorded the live a performance by Willie Johnson and the Gospel Keynotes hosted by the Junior Black Academy of Arts and Letters on June 24, 2000, at the Naomi Bruton Theater. The tape includes one track of well recorded audio of soulful female vocalist accompanied by a pianist along with other singers throughout the track.

Vorst aan de Grond

Recording of René Uijlenhoet's Vorst aan de Grond. This is a work for two carillons, ringing bells, and two audio tracks. It was commissioned by the Utrechtse Klokkenspel Vereniging and dedicated to carilloneurs Arie Abbenes and Geert d'Hollander. This composition represents the history and significance of the connection between carillons/bells and Charles V, however the composer notes that it is not the monarch that is being honored but the eternal beauty of church bells.

Rebicycling

Recording of Manuel Rocha Iturbide's Rebicycling. The idea for this work was inspired by the observance of the thousands of bicycles that are used and abandoned within cities, specifically Tokyo, Japan. The composer makes a statement regarding first-world countries and their habit of consuming in excess and throwing things away that would be reused or fixed in less developed countries. This work was originally developed as a sound installation in SURGE gallery but has been converted to something that can be played in a concert setting with a 4-channel system.

Recording of Daniel Schachter's Lineas y puntos de otro tiempo. This work was inspired by the idea of a new millennium and everything that comes with that. The title refers to basic elements that are always present at the beginning of a new era without any human intervention. The final mixing of this piece was done with Digidesign Session8 system, an 882 I/O audio interface and Session8 software.

Deepfield

The sounds in this work come from rocks of various sizes and gas cylinders, creating a sonar exploration of deep space and worlds unknown, inspired by the discoveries made with the Hubble telescope.
