Oral history with Lena, Amy, and Robert regarding the adoption of Lena from Southern China. Robert and Amy discuss their successful search for Lena's birth family and the factors that contributed to their success. Interview with Grace, Zoe, and Kai Purtell regarding their adoptions from Guangdong Province (Grace and Zoe) and Yunnan Province (Kai), China. At the time of the interview, Grace and Zoe (twins) were nine years old and Kai was five years old. Kai shares his adoption story and the surgeries he's had to correct his cleft palate. Zoe speaks about her desire to visit China when she's older and Grace speaks about her skill with drawing.

Oral history with Jian Rzeszewicz regarding her adoption to Washington from Zhan-Jian, Guadong Province, China. She shares what her childhood was like, particularly that the diversity of the general population in Washington helped her feel more accepted, and her parents' efforts to connect her to Chinese culture and other adoptees. She also discusses her connections to the other girls adopted at the same time as her and her trip to China where she visited the orphanage where she lived as a baby. She also shares the emotional impact of meeting her foster mother and her advocacy for adopted children in the United States.

Interview with Emi and Diane Pennington regarding the adoption of Emi Pennington from Shaoyang, Hunan Province, China. Diane shares how she arrived at her decision to adopt from China and speaks about their family dynamic. Both Emi and Diane share their feelings about the public reactions to them together. Emi also speaks about her feelings on visiting China or searching for her birth parents.

Interview with Mary Ann and Anthony Tomasek regarding the adoptions of Jencie and Juliann Tomasek from Hubei Province (Jencie) and Guangdong Province (Juliann), China. They speak about how they decided to adopt from China, what the adoption process entailed, and their trips of China to get their children. They also share their efforts to teach the girls about Chinese culture and their daughters' interest in their birth families.

Narrative history of Hannah Weaver and her parents regarding her adoption from Foshan City in Guandong Province, China. She shares her involvement in the Families with Children from China's culture camp in Austin, Texas and her decision to start a birth parent search. Hannah's mother speaks about the curiosity Hannah has always had about her birth parents and both her parents share their thoughts on Hannah's birth parent search. Her mother also discusses her decision to adopt from China and their current family dynamic.

Oral history interview with Michael Wohlfeld and Kalen Hoyle regarding the adoption of Greta Wohlfeld from Jiangxi Province, China. They speak about how they made the decision to adopt from China and the trip to get their daughter, Greta. They discuss the information they know about Greta's birth family and their thoughts on the lack of information regarding Greta's early life. They also speak about the challenges of raising a Chinese daughter in the United States and the issues of identity regarding race.

Interview with Lily Selvaggi regarding her adoption from the Guigang City SWI, Guangxi Province, China. Lily speaks about seeing videos of herself as a baby in China and her trip to China when she was ten years old, where she met her foster mother. She states that she's not given much though to finding her biological family and that she's more interested in meeting biological siblings than learning about her origins. She also speaks about the casual racism she's experienced due to being Asian American.

Narrative history of Ivy Maldonado regarding her adoption from Yiwu, China. She shares the information she knows about her adoption and the memories she has from her early life in China. She also speaks about her motivations for searching for her birth parents and the steps she's taken to begin her search. Ivy also shares details about her diagnosis with autism spectrum disorder, and how she and her family learned to cope with her disability.

Oral History with Brian Stuy regarding the adoption of his children, Meikina, Meigon, and Meilan Stuy from Guangdong Province (Meikina and Meigon) and Henan Province (Meilan) in China. He discusses how he arrived at his decision to adopt from China, his leaving of the Mormon Church, about meeting is wife, Longlan Stuy, and their experience adopting Meilan. He also shares his views on China's One Child Policy and his disillusionment with international adoption.

Oral history with Timothy Tian Bao Estes regarding his adoption from Luyong SWI in Hunan Province, China at the age of 14. He describes his childhood in China, growing up with a woman who took him in and in an orphanage and his adoption to the United States. He also speaks about his experiences as a teenager in Washington, the difficulties of adjusting to his new circumstances and how he joined the Jobs Corps program and later, Americorps.

Oral History with Sarah Heath and Celena Kopinski regarding their adoption from the Changzhou CWI in Jiangsu Province, China. They discuss how they connected over Facebook which lead to them discovering they were twins who had been adopted separately. Both Sarah and Celena offer their thoughts on the process of discovering they were twins and the shock of finding each other after accepting that it was likely they would never know their biological family. They discuss their respective childhoods, adoption stories, and their respective trips to China to learn more about their origins.

Oral history with Willa Mei Kurland and Charlotte Cotter regarding their trip to China to search for their birth parents. They discuss their expectations going into the trip, the attention they received from the Chinese media, and how they were embraced by Charlotte's birth family and Willa's foster family. Charlotte and Willa also speak about the aftermath of finding their birth and foster families and what their families' hopes and expectations are regarding future contact. This interview was conducted while Willa and Charlotte were in China on their birth parents search, towards the end of their trip.

Oral History with Helena Hong and Elena Triginer regarding the adoption of Helena Hong from Heilongjiang Province, Hegang to Barcelona Spain. Helena speaks about her childhood in China and how she came to live in the orphanage and Elena describes her decision to adopt and particularly to adopt an older child. Helena also shares how she established contact with the family she lived with in China through social media and her decision to not maintain contact at the time of the interview. They both speak about the transition to living in Spain. The interview is conducted in English, Catalan, and Mandarin with Shanshan Zhang acting as Mandarin interpreter.

Interview of Willa Mei Kurland and Charlotte Cotter (they interview each other), discussing their upcoming trip to China to search for their birth parents. They shares their first steps posting on social media and that Willa had begun contact with her foster family and that Charlotte has had a family step forward as her birth family. Both Willa and Charlotte shares their thoughts on searching with another person and the possibility of having different outcomes. They concurrently maintained a blog where they each shared their experiences regarding the trip and birth parent search and this interview took place after they began their search but before their trip to China.

Interview with Peter Chu regarding his experiences in China during World War II. Peter's son Alan Chu also participates in this interview. Peter Chu discusses the Japanese occupation in Nanking (Nanjing), China in 1937 when he was 10 years old.

Interview with Valentin R. Ybarra regarding his experiences during World War II. He discusses his wartime experiences in Peleliu and Okinawa as well as occupation duty in Japan and China. He also had an assignment in Spain. He remembers the Cuban Missile Crisis, the revolt in the Dominican Republic, and his service in Vietnam.

Interview with David Lee "Tex" Hill of San Antonio, Texas, a veteran from the United States Navy during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater. The interview includes Hill's personal experiences while in the Navy, including memories of pre-war flight training in Florida, the Flying Tigers, and the Salween River Gorge attack.

Interview with Alan W. "Buck" Saunders, a pilot during World War II. He discusses joining the Army Air Corps, becoming an airplane mechanic, and going to flight school for pilot training. He was stationed in India and flew supplies into China over the Himalayas (known by pilots as "the Hump"). In China, he traded items such as jewelry or opium for information on Japanese troop placements in Burma. He also discusses his meetings with native Burmese and talks about later experiences he had after the war and during the Vietnam War.
