Don't hesitate, do it right now

Recording of Sten Hanson's Don't hesitate, do it right now. This work consists of 4 separate pieces: 'Che', 'The Glorious Desertion', 'Don't hesitate, do it right now', and 'Revolution'. This collection of pieces were inspired by the ADC (American Deserters Committee), a group of American soldiers that found sanctuary in Sweden after deserting the American army during the Vietnam war. The spoken text in this piece is sampled from a speech given by Che Guevara, a public figure who took part in Castro's revolution.

Recording of Jorge Rodrigo Sigal's Babel. This work is part of a larger CD project called "Manifesto". The piece is meant for flute, tape, and optional live electronics. The sound materials were recorded in Spain, France, and Mexico City. The composer dedicates this work to Stefano Scarani and it was premiered by Mr. Harrie Starreveld.

A-roving

Recording of Eduardo Polonio's A-roving. This work begins with a reading of Lord Byson's "So We'll Go No More a Roving" and a story which is spoken in Spanish, about the architecture of Rome. The sounds are both pre-recorded and synthetic; there are nature sounds, sounds from inanimate objects, and synthetically built sounds.

Recording of Manuel Rocha Iturbide's Moin Mor. In music using concepts or ideas which belong to other domains is something that has been realized by composers for a long time. The central element of sound work is language, which is what characterizes a determinate culture. Language is made out of sound and meaning, out of syntax (rhythm) and out of words (signs) For this work English, Gaelic, and Spanish are used.

Recording of Alcides Lanza's Ekphonesis V. For actress-singer, lights, and electronic music. This work is rooted in the composer's continuing interest with "memories". This piece explores the "library" of memories, reflections, thoughts, and ideas, supposedly encountered if the soloist could enter the composer's brain. During this "tour of the brain," the "tourist" is confronted with the recollections of the composer, plus her own memories.

Haiku

Recording of Guillermo Galindo's Haiku. For electronic, pre-recorded sound, voice, and flute. Based on a poem by Michael McClure, Haiku II represents nature and humans transcendental connection. Recorded and processed nature sounds coexistent and the flute material was derived from digital transformations. The original recording includes sounds of crickets, grasshoppers and cicadas and was digitally transformed in order to emphasize harmonic or textural content.
