It is hypothesized that sustained partner abuse will be associated with mental and physical health symptoms and that coping will mediate these effects. Psychological abuse was found to have the strongest impact on women's physical and mental health.

This report summarizes the results of a survey of adult, working-aged patients in a large, urban, tax-supported county healthcare system, consisting of an inpatient hospital facility and eight community health centers. The major objectives of this research project were to assess the patients' access to healthcare, factors affecting their access, and their health status.
