Collaborative Research: MRA: Particulates in canopy flowpaths: A missing mass flux at the macrosystem scale? (open access)

Collaborative Research: MRA: Particulates in canopy flowpaths: A missing mass flux at the macrosystem scale?

Data management plan for the grant, "Collaborative Research: MRA: Particulates in canopy flowpaths: A missing mass flux at the macrosystem scale?" This research will investigate a vital, but currently uncharacterized, macrosystem biogeochemical function within forest canopies at the very start of the terrestrial hydrologic cycle: particulate concentration, flux, and composition in rainwaters draining from forest canopies. We will address three major objectives: (1) Estimate the net rainfall (TF+ SF) water and particulate mass flux across forest types; (2) Characterize the particulate composition (C:N:P, including C components, like total C, organic C, black C, and microplastic C) of TF and SF; and (3) Identify major drivers of macrosystem variability in net rainfall particulate flux and composition.

Urban Expansion Monitoring Based on the Digital Surface Model—A Case Study of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Plain (open access)

Urban Expansion Monitoring Based on the Digital Surface Model—A Case Study of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Plain

This article presents a study of urban expansion in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei plain based on ALOS Global Digital Surface Model “ALOS World 3D-30 m” (AW3D30 DSM), Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) DSM, and Landsat 7 ETM+ images. The method proposed in this paper can provide rapid and large-scale statistics to study urban construction expansion in the world.

Structural equation modeling of the associations between amygdala activation, personality, and internalizing, externalizing symptoms of psychopathology (open access)

Structural equation modeling of the associations between amygdala activation, personality, and internalizing, externalizing symptoms of psychopathology

Article examining how amygdala activation to facial expressions was linked with self-report of personality traits and clinical interviews of internalizing and externalizing symptoms of psychopathology. Structural equation modeling results revealed direct associations of amygdala activation with personality trait expression, as well as indirect associations (though personality) with symptoms of psychopathology.

Pilgrimage and Textual Culture

This article considers issues of reading and writing before, during, and after medieval pilgrimages, as well as the methodological and historical issues at stake for both pilgrim writers and modern scholars. In particular, the articles address the vexed issue of where — and how much — reading and writing took place around historically attested pilgrimages.

An ecological measure to screen executive functioning in Multiple Sclerosis: the Picture Interpretation Test (PIT) 360° (open access)

An ecological measure to screen executive functioning in Multiple Sclerosis: the Picture Interpretation Test (PIT) 360°

This article's aim was to compare the efficiency of the Picture Interpretation Test 360° (PIT 360°) with traditional measures on executive dysfunction in Persons with Multiple Sclerosis (PwMS) and Healthy Controls (HC). Overall, the PIT 360° was concluded to be a quick, sensitive, and ecological tool that captures real-world executive dysfunction in PwMS. This engaging measure is sensitive for the detection of executive deficits since the early phases of the disease.

Factor Structure and Construct Validity of the Proposed Specifiers for Conduct Disorder (PSCD) Scale in Chinese Adolescents

Article examining the psychometric properties of the self-report version of Proposed Specifiers for Conduct Disorder (PSCD) Scale in a sample of community adolescents in mainland China. Findings provide preliminary evidence for the four-factor structure of the PSCD and support for the utility of the self-report PSCD for measuring psychopathic traits and CD in Chinese adolescents.
