She was glad to receive the letter from Charles. She has been lonesome since Jack left. Lizzie has spent time with the children. Jinni hasn't had any rain. She says that she is lonely and doesn't receive any letters, except from Charles and Carin Henry. Sam Henderson is going to visit Charles. She doesn't know what to write since no one visits her. Jackson has been gone for more than a day, she thinks he might be married. Mary and Laura are similar to herself. She believes that she has enough fruit for the winter. She asks that they write more and that she would answer her friends letters if they would write.

The author mentions that everyone is doing well. The author is going to take her children to town to see a show and she has a meeting the next Sunday. Bettie and her mother went to town and got two dresses. Old Pros is working with Old Kit's colt for seventeen days. Mollie Loves' baby had a cold and Alice Donnell wants to see the author's sister. The author is going to make a dress and suit for a wedding between Dock D. and Miss Fallen. Bettie is pregnant with Abe's child. Willie has a brief letter to his aunt about jackets and going to the show next week. Mr. Wilson has land in Ellis County. There is also a letter to Mr. Moore from W. H. McGee. Henry's eyes are bad so McGee is writing for him. There has been a bid on his land and he is considering moving to Texas if he could get some cheap land in Mr. Moore's neighborhood. Henry hopes to write himself next time.

Letter from W. J. McKinley to Friends. He says he doesn't care for writing, but would talk your ear off. He is doing well with his job and expects a raise. He talks about his crops. He is going to buy a sow and then sell her in the fall. After that he wants to go visit them. Mr. Lawrence visited and he wishes they lived closer. He hopes next year will be better for them. He talks about all of their cats. There was an oil leak at the depot. The next litter he has, he is going to send Claude a puppy.

She was glad to hear from them because she was afraid that they had gone home and forgotten about her. She mentions that Mrs. Joyner would like to go back to Texas with them and is an old schoolmate of Mrs. Moore. She wants to get her father to go with her to Texas, but will not be able to go this year. Her mother is going to Arkansas to see her son. She received a copy of the "Democrat" by Mr. Moore of her trip to McKinney.

He received their letter just in time. He mentions that they have been well and he feels bad for imposing on them. He is very grateful because he feels better. He wrote Will and Linnet wrote Birdie. He mentions how much it is for them to stay there. He will send a paper to Doug. He went to the train depot looking for Texans. Linnet wants to go sight seeing, she went to Colorado Springs. He mentions that his family has been gone the whole time he is visiting. He met a couple of people from Texas at the depot and a man from Tennessee. He feels bad for their hardship. He comments on how Linnet is doing on the trip. He mentions how different the women are, they ride broncos and smoke.

Priest is very sick and weak. They have had to watch him because he gets up at night. He then mentions the weather and the need for rain. Solomon returned and is looking at land to purchase. Solomon received a letter from Clarence, but it did not mention if he had a fever. Neal did not go to church, but instead went fishing. Brother Carr came again and gave him shorthand and theology. He is getting mixed messages on the shorthand. He then talks about theology. Neal is going to Melissa. He talks about working on a grain drill. He mentions the weather again and the harvest flies. He talks about the peaches he has and inquires about their peach orchard. His California visitors have not made it to him yet and he wonders what is keeping them. He is expecting Lila, her baby, Aunt T and John or Neal to go with him to town. He talks about the crops and the most current condition of Priest.

She mentions that her mother died and that now the bond connecting them is broken. She tells them that her mother had been suffering, but continued to put on a brave face. They buried her next to their father and she will go live with her sister in Dallas. She gives her new address and is happy that he and Linnet enjoyed their trip with her. Letter from Laura Jernigan to Mary Moore. She had written them and not received a letter until after she left on her first trip. Then when she returned she went on another trip and hasn't had time to respond. She gives some news about Jim. Jim and them went to the lake. She talks about the fruit and crops that were there. She talks about the weather. She talks about her garden and the vegetables that are in it. She hasn't heard from anyone in Tennessee in a long time. Her father went to Austin and passed through Waco, but was on a round trip so couldn't visit. She says she is still waiting for Linnet and Claude to come visit them.

She found some time to write them, but can't find their last letter. She mentions that some people are headed out. Mr. Franklin had a hard time getting home. Mr. Lowry has been unwell he thinks with a fever. Her Uncle H got a fever and was unwell, but has recovered. She mentions Solomon's family and their health. Solomon will be going back to help pick cotton. She received a letter from Clarence and Solomon received one from George. Buck is wearing a necklace with a heart on it. Neal came back that morning. Solomon ended up leaving to go find work. She read their letter to Uncle H. She mentions that they need rain. She talks about the state of their peach orchard. Uncle H and Neal are going to Melissa. Neal helped Lila with her milking and feeding. She mentions again the need for rain and she was happy that the Moores were having a good time.

The first two pages are from Willie McGee to his aunt Mary Ann Dodd Moore. He primarily discusses his life at school. The last two pages are from Dinkie to her sister and brother-in-law Charles. She talks about her recent poor health. The envelope has a 3 cent postal stamp and is addressed to Mrs. Mary Moore, Melissa, Collin Co., Texas. A handwritten note on the front reads: " Willy + Dinky McGee; Received September 18th; 1880." A postal stamp on the front reads: "Gallatin, Tenn; Sept 14" and one on the back reads: "Melissa, Collin Co., Texas; Sep 18, 1880."

The author is happy to hear from his sister and says that his family is doing well also. Although they have all been suffering from colds. The weather was really hot during the day and then frosting at night. There is a turnip patch that has produced and an irish potato patch that they had to fight the bugs off of them. They also have apples and are making cider with it. Wilson sold some sheep and now are running the cattle to Louisville. Wilson and Mr. Albright are heading to Texas and might call on her and Dinkie. The author also gives information on the flowers and on the horses. Mrs. Summers would like to go visit Texas also. He talks of the chickens, and then asks his sister to write more often.

She asks Linnet to not share the information she is sending her. She received the book, knife and picture that was sent.

She went to the fair with Will and Bessie. Mollie Love died. Sh wishes they would come visit her. She met up with John Wood at the fair. She mentions how some people are doing. She talks about the fruit she wants and the rain they need. Mr. Lawrence stayed with them. One of her pigs got killed by a train. She has been so busy she hasn't been able to finish the letter. She was reminded of Will and wonders about Mattie and Henry. She hopes she will have news the next time she writes and can't wait for their next letter. She encloses a picture of Will that Aunt B had. There is a drawing on the back of the envelope.

Mary and Betty went to Tobe's and on the way back got caught in the rain. He went to town with Abe and also got caught in the rain on the way back. He went to Dinkie's place and met his new cousin-in-law. Mary has some sewing she needs to get done before they can leave, but he will try to leave as soon as he can. He expects to see some more visitors and he wishes he could share the good food he is enjoying. He mentions the weather again and says he expects a lot of news when he returns home.
