She canned and jammed Blackberries and sold them. She comments that everything is ripening late. The cashier at the bank was robbing it for years. She mentions how the money was being used. She brags about Will and how well he is doing. She is waiting for Linnet's letter and wishing they would come visit. She talks about the work she is doing and gives news about people. Richard Dobbins got married. She asks for information about the people living in Texas.

He also says that one member of the Robberts family is building a grist and sawmill at Edgefield Junction. Frank Wilson is headed to Texas. He ends by relating that the weather is dry and what crops have been planted.

Her brother Will was going to singing school being taught by Mr. Moncreaf at the school. She got a new blue hat for Christmas. Grandpa has 8 little lambs. She writes to Hattie Love all the time. She went and stayed with Clemmie Albright for several days and went with Alice and Mr. Frank and had a nice time. On the back she wrote her alphabet with a little something about each letter.

She is going to see Mrs. Ellis who is not doing well. Nicy Blackamare married a Mr. Hassell. She comments on John Brown, Henry A. Wise, Mrs. Nation and prohibition.

Florence is concerned that they will only have cornbread, and no biscuit. A smaller piece of paper is addressed to little cousin Linnet from Mary Winston Dodd who was less than a year old. In addition, it includes the envelope from the original letter addressed to Mr. C. B. Moore that had also been used to as scrap paper.

He provides a brief, yet detailed genealogical account of the Moore family history as well as the Anna Laura ballad for the letter's recipients. The letter's edges are damaged and some of the words are missing due to the damage.

In this letter, McKinley discusses Mary Ann Moore's cancer diagnosis and details that there is a doctor in his area who treats cancer successfully with electricity. He states that if Birdie visited with the baby and Mary Ann became more ill, it would be a lot for Linnet and Claude to handle. He suggests that Linnet and Mary Ann should stay with them and assures Claude that they will be taken care of to the best of the family's ability. Mary Ann would be able to receive the care she needs as well as the emotional support of Linnet, Birdie, and Alice. He asks Claude to think it over and notes that Claude is most welcome as well, if his work schedule permits him to visit for a length of time. He closes by noting that the White family must write them soon and update them on any recent news on Mary Ann's condition.
