The objective of Project 30.7 was to investigate the predicted behavior of German underground personnel shelters, equipment, and certain instrumentation. Data obtained will be used for evaluation and improvement of present design criteria.

From introduction: The purpose of this study was to map the geology of the (Sedan) crater shell and relate the information gained to shell configuration and cratering mechanics. Hopefully, the data presented will be of use in planning future nuclear cratering experiments.

From abstract: A comprehensive geologic and engineering investigation was undertaken at the site on Buckboard Mesa selected for the SULKY event, a nuclear cratering experiment, conducted in dry basalt.

"The study of the toxicity of Ra and MsTh(Ra/sup 228/) in humans was continued. Several Thorotrast cases were also examined. Physical and clinical studies were made on 151 persons. In all cases possible gamma ray measurements were made of Ra and MsTh decay products retained in the body, alpha -ray measurements of Rn and Rn/sup 220/ in breath, a complete medical history was taken, a complete x-ray examination was made of the skeleton, and urinalysis, hematological, and blood chemistry studies were made."

This report is a preliminary evaluation of the uranium resources of the Brushy Basin Member of the Morrison Formation of Late Jurassic age in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah. The project, which began July 1, 1976, and was completed October 1, 1976, was carried out by the Bendix Field Engineering Corporation (BFEC) for the Grand Junction Office of the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA).

From foreword: The major objective of the symposium is informing engineers in industry, military, educational institutions, and in government agencies throughout the world of the current state-of-the-art nuclear explosives from an engineering standpoint.

From operational program: This final report includes a general geologic description of the area, including descriptions of the various geologic units and correlates the airborne data to the geologic units as provided by the geologic maps. Also included is a frequency distribution study of the data as a function of the geologic units encountered over the NTMS area including the tie line data. This report also consists of a discussion of the area surveyed and includes all single record reduced data and averaged record data listings on microfiche.

From abstract: This report analyzes the dimensions and geometry of the Dugout crater, produced by the detonation of a row of five 18,144 kg nitromethane charges in basalt, were analyzed.

From introduction: This study is a comprehensive investigation of altered sandstone associated with uranium deposits near Pumpkin Buttes in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, and the detection of such alteration using remote sensing technology. The purpose of this study is two-fold: 1) to develop video image processing techniques that will preferentially enhance areas of alteration associated with uranium deposits and enable mapping of these areas, and 2) to investigate the spectral, geochemical, and mineralogical characteristics of altered areas which make them detectable on remote sensor data. Once these video processing techniques have been defined, they may be applied as exploration tools to new areas with similar surface and geological environments. In this way, remote sensing can serve as a valuable tool for uranium exploration.

The purpose of this report is to present all pertinent geologic data on an area in which relatively imprtant uranium deposits are present.

Report on an evaluation of the Sand Springs Range as a possible location for an underground nuclear study (Shoal Event). Various tests to determine the site's suitability included aerial photography and mapping of the area through various means; drilling and bulldozing to conduct mineralogical and other physical evaluations; gravity, aeromagnetic, and refraction surveys; and studies related to the hydrology of the location and surrounding areas.

From introduction: This report is a status report to complete present contract obligations and is submitted in lieu of a Final Report. A Final Report is not feasible especially until complete analyses and statistical treatment of all of the 436 rock chip, 2 soil-rock and 90 water samples, a total of 528 samples submitted by the partners to Union Carbide, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, plus remaining analyses to be run by BFEC's Grand Junction Laboratory become available and other recommendations and necessities are done. See subsequent section of this report titled: "Recommendations For Work Needed to Complete Final Report". A Final Report may be prepared by the partners if supplemental funds for such work and for completion of the analyses and their statistical treatment ever become available.
