Photocopy of Elizabeth Simpson Cooper's memoir about her childhood in Virginia and later her time in Kansas after moving westward with her family. In the text of her memoir, she describes her school days in Virginia, church, Cooper family history, "Bleeding Kansas" (the period of conflict over deciding if Kansas would be a free or a slave state), and the Civil War in Kansas as well as her personal encounters with Native Americans in Kansas.

It also includes documents concerning Dr. Felix Robertson, President of the Texas Association, and the group of young men who came to Texas with him in the fall of 1825 to explore the grant and survey land for the stockholders" (p. 11). Interview with Colonel M.L. Daman, an Army veteran and a survivor of the siege of Corregidor, concerning his experiences as a prisoner-of-war of the Japanese during World War II. Daman discusses the fall of Corregidor and his capture, Bilibid Prison in Manila (1942-1943), Davao Penal Colony (1943-1944), Bilibid Prison again (1945), the fall of Manila, and his liberation.
