This report discusses the questionnaire for the IOGENE Project. From September 26, 2008 through June 26, 2009, an online survey questionnaire captured both demographic data from Portal visitors as well as their opinions regarding the utility of the Portal and their satisfaction with it. The objective of this data collection effort was twofold: to characterize Portal users and to establish baseline measurements for user satisfaction. The survey will be repeated following each of two planned releases of the redesigned Portal, one in the summer of 2009 and the second in the fall of 2009. Comparison of future survey results to the baseline results reported in this paper will be one gauge of the success of the IOGENE project.

These grant materials were prepared for the National Digital Newspaper Program, a project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to provide access to historic American Newspapers. The Library of Congress serves as the technical adviser for the NDNP. NEH designated this proposal a “We the People” grant, and it was provided by NEH as an example grant in the following year’s grant round. The award funded digitization of Texas historical newspapers. For the grant, UNT served as the lead institution with partners at the Center for American History at the University of Texas, and Texas Tech University. This proposal was funded for $397,552.

Presentation for the 2014 Church and Synagogue Library Association (CSLA) Annual Conference. This presentation discusses the structure, method, and content of digital repositories of religious history.

Presentation outlining information about the deployment of a new serial title database in the UNT Libraries' Digital Collections, including background information, purpose of the database, record modeling, and integration into the public interface.

The article is a memorial to Wesley J. Thompson (1947-2019) and highlights his contributions to the studies of neuromuscular synapses and glial cells. Thompson graduated from North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) with Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degree, and he went on to build a meaningful career that spanned the globe. He will be remembered not only as a great scientist but also as a great mentor and friend.

Compilation of essays that address the topic of aging from a wide variety of perspectives and provide a basis for the discussion of housing issues concerning the elderly in the coming century. Indexes start on page 423 (authors) and 431 (subjects).

Leadership in Career and Technical Education: Beginning the 21st Century is the third edited book published by the University Council of Workforce and Human Resource Education (UCWHRE), formerly the University Council of Vocational Education (UCVE). The previous books, Beyond Tradition: Preparing the Teachers of Tomorrow's Workforce (Hartley & Wentling, 1996) and Beyond Tradition: Preparing Human Resource Development Educators for Tomorrow's Workforce (Stewart & Hall, 1998) reported trends in their respective fields and also addressed issues that are perennial to workforce education. This publication is somewhat different in that it represents a collaborative effort among members of the UCWHRE, the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education and the National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education. This collaboration symbolizes efforts to link theory and research to practice and practice to theory and research.

This book is a "systematic outlining of the field of environmental aesthetics beginning from the basis of analytical philosophy" (p. ix). The author discusses ecological and anthropological aesthetics, environmental ethics, the relation of art to nature, and environmental education and legislation. The index begins on page 188.

This report is on a case study from Guatemala on malnutrition and food aid programs. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of food aid and/or food aid programs on the nutritional status of its recipients in two regions of Guatemala. From this investigation, empirically-based programmatic statements as to the role of food aid and its impact on human society will be presented.

This doctoral dissertation discusses access to film and video works. Physical and intellectual access to moving image documents is insufficient, often insignificant, at the level of the individual user. Existing access tools suffer from a lack of recognition of the differences between linguistic text communication and image communication. Browsing and relevance judgements are made difficult by the physical realities of film and video documents - one cannot flip through them - and by the habits of serial and passive viewing.

These papers are a compilation presented at a conference on bibliographic control of Afro-American literature. The papers discuss issues in cataloging and archiving African-American literature including relevant subject headings, sources of texts, and collection development. Index starts on page 293.
