Regional Stochastic Generation of Streamflows using an Arima (1, 0, 1) Process and Disaggregation

From abstract: An ARIMA (1, 0, 1) model is used to generate annual flow sequence at three sites in the Juniata River basin, Pennsylvania. The study was designed to analyze low-flow frequency characteristics of a basin. The model preserves the mean, variance, and cross-correlations of the observed station data.

A Method for Estimating Ground-Water Return Flow to the Lower Colorado River in the Yuma Area, Arizona and California (open access)

A Method for Estimating Ground-Water Return Flow to the Lower Colorado River in the Yuma Area, Arizona and California

Purpose and scope: The purpose of this study was to develop a method for estimating the amount of subsurface return flow to the Colorado River in the Yuma area. This report presents a method that permits an approximate accounting of ground-water return flow from each side of the Colorado River in Yuma reach. The method presented in this report was developed specifically for application in the Yuma area. The validity of the assumptions inherent in the method was evaluated on the basis of the local hydrologic system. The applicability of the method to other hydrologic systems is not addressed in this report.

Water Resources of the North Coast Limestone Area, Puerto Rico (open access)

Water Resources of the North Coast Limestone Area, Puerto Rico

From introduction: The North Coast Limestone area is one of the two most important ground-water provinces of Puerto Rico--the other being the South Coast Alluvial aquifer. The investigation of the water resources of the South Coast has progressed to the point that at this time (mid-1971) an electric-analog model of the area is being prepared. The hydrology of the North Coast Limestones, however, was never investigated as a whole before this investigation, and, therefore, this study was designed to assess the most important hydrolic features of the area.

Water Resources of the Red River of the North Drainage Basin in Minnesota (open access)

Water Resources of the Red River of the North Drainage Basin in Minnesota

The report consists of three principal sections; environmental setting, water resource management, and the hydrologic system. The environmental setting describes the land and people as related to water resources. The section on water resource management is intended to provide practical information needed for the planning and management of water resources. The section on the hydrologic system is a more technical discussion of water in the Red River basin. The section on water management can be used to locate the water, determine the amount available and its quality; whereas, the section on the hydrologic system describes the operation of the system how water moves through the system and why the quality is as it is.

WATEQF: A FORTRAN IV Version of WATEQ, a Computer Program for Calculating Chemical Equilibrium of Natural Waters (open access)

WATEQF: A FORTRAN IV Version of WATEQ, a Computer Program for Calculating Chemical Equilibrium of Natural Waters

Abstract: WATEQF is a FORTRAN IV computer program that models the thermodynamic speciation of inorganic ions and complex species in solution for a given water analysis. The original version (WATEQ) was written in 1973 by A. H. Truesdell and B. F. Jones in Programming Language/one (PL/1). With but a few exceptions, the thermochemical data, speciation, activity coefficients, and general calculation procedure of WATEQF is identical to the PL/1 version. This report notes the differences between WATEQF and WATEQ, demonstrates how to set up the input data to execute WATEQF, provides a test case for comparison, and makes available a listing of WATEQF.
