Macro Control Structures for Structured Programming in ALC (open access)

Macro Control Structures for Structured Programming in ALC

This thesis describes a set of computer program control structures which permits the application of certain structured programming techniques to the IBM/360 assembly language (ALC). The control structures are implemented by programmerdefined instructions known as macros. A history of computer software is presented, providing a basis for the emergence of structured programming. A survey of the major concepts of structured programming with special attention to control structures and their significance to structured programming follows. The macros developed in this study include DO, ENDDO, LEAVE, CASE, and ENDCASE. They provide a looping control structure, a loop-escape construct, and a selective control structure. Examples of usage are given.

Analysis of activities in production typewriting and development of a teaching model and standards (open access)

Analysis of activities in production typewriting and development of a teaching model and standards

The problem of this study is an analysis of activities in production typewriting, development of a teaching model, and establishment of production standards. The study has four main purposes which are: (1) to identify the time spent in keystroking, decision making, typing from longhand copy, erasing an original, typing and correcting one carbon copy, and proofreading; (2) to test the correlation between anxiety level and decision-making time, and IQ and decision-making time; (3) to analyze the differences in difficulty level of six production tasks and develop a teaching model; and (4) to discover the mean gross words per minute rate and total number of errors on six production tasks and develop production standards.

Spent fuel shipping cask accident evaluation (open access)

Spent fuel shipping cask accident evaluation

Mathematical models have been developed to simulate the dynamic behavior, following a hypothetical accident and fire, of typical casks designed for the rail shipment of spent fuel from nuclear reactors, and to determine the extent of radioactive releases under postulated conditions. The casks modeled were the IF-300, designed by the General Electric Company for the shipment of spent LWR fuel, and a cask designed by the Aerojet Manufacturing Company for the shipment of spent LMFBR fuel.
