The status of bilingual education in Texas has been examined in this paper in order to explore the nature of bilingual education and bilingual education programs, to ascertain whether the implementation of bilingual education programs has been successful in Texas, and to determine if there is sufficient justification for the continuation of such programs.

The Influence of a Return of Native Grasslands upon the Ecology and Distribution of Small Rodents in Big Bend National Park

In the southwestern United States there is a delicate balance between the existing grasslands and the rodent fauna. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the influence of secondary succession of native grasslands upon the ecology and distribution of small rodents. Two methods of determining the rodent species were plot quadrates and trap lines using Sherman live traps.

The purposes of the study were twofold: First, to study the relationship of a practical arts high school curriculum as opposed to a college preparatory high school curriculum to performance in academic foundation college courses. Second, to analyze this relationship and its implications for high school students, parents, teachers, and counselors.

Proposed Guidelines for an Industrial Arts Program for the Mentally Retarded in Public School Systems

The problem was concerned with determining what skills were necessary for the employment of the mentally retarded and what guidelines may be used in developing these skills in the secondary level industrial arts program. The study developed guidelines which should prove useful to an industrial arts instructor having mentally retarded students in his classroom. The guidelines were based upon the results of an industrial survey and available literature.
