Transcript of an interview with Max Schlotter, WWII and Korean War Navy veteran. Schlotter shares concerning his childhood in the Congo and Texas; family history; living on the Alabama-Coushatta reservation near Livingston, Texas; enlistment in the Navy; assignment on USS Thurston; attending the V-12 program; assignment on the USS Long Island in the Pacific Theater; post-war college and teaching; recall by Navy during the Korean War; assignment to USS Adirondack and Naples, Italy; and post-war life. Appendix includes photos, a map of the Okinawa Invasion, and biographical notes.

International Criminal Court Cases in Africa: Status and Policy Issues
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has, to date, opened cases exclusively in Africa. Cases concerning 25 individuals are open before the Court, pertaining to crimes allegedly committed in six African states: Libya, Kenya, Sudan (Darfur), Uganda (the Lord's Resistance Army, LRA), the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic. This report provides background on current ICC cases and examines issues raised by the ICC's actions in Africa.

Conflict Minerals in Central Africa: U.S. and International Responses
This report discusses how Congress has focused on ways to help end or mitigate the effects of conflicts and human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), including several hearingw which have become law. The main issue is related to "conflict minerals," the so-called “3TGs”: ores of tantalum and niobium, tin, tungsten, and gold, and their derivatives.
