A Nomothetic Examination of the Role of Religious Ideology in Relation to Academic Dishonesty

The purposes were (1) to determine student attitudes concerning the cause, frequency, method, and punishment of academically dishonest behavior, (2) to determine current behavioral patterns concerning the origin, method, frequency, and student reactions to academically dishonest behavior, and (3) to determine the role of denominational affiliation, religious participation, satisfaction with religious involvement, and importance of religious development in relationship to the practice of academic dishonesty.

The problem with which this study is concerned was to analyze the reactions of faculty members and academic administrators toward the practices related to the improvement of instruction as they pertain to the role of department or division chairpersons. The hypotheses designed to serve the purposes of this study were related to supervision of instruction, methods and materials used for instruction, evaluation of the teaching performance of faculty members, participation of faculty members in administrative decisions, faculty members' professional development, and evaluation of the outcomes of instruction.

A Study of the Relationship between Parental Identification and Managerial Roles as Perceived by Community College Administrators

Action theory provides a theoretical framework for examining administrative behavior in a higher educational system. The specific problem with which this study is concerned is the relationship between parental identification, a selected aspect of early acculturation, and the managerial roles of community college administrators. The purposes of this investigation are twofold. The first is to determine the relationships between perceived parental identification and Theory X and Theory Y action frames of reference of administrators in a selected community college district. The second purpose is to determine Theory X and Theory Y action frames of reference based on (a) age, (b) sex, (c) method of succession, (d) type of administrative position, and (e) length of time in present position.

Perceptions and Expectations of Deans, Chairpersons and Faculty Members Regarding Leadership Behavior of Academic Department Chairpersons at Silpakorn University in Thailand

The problem with which this study is concerned is to compare the perceptions and expectations of the deans, chairpersons, and faculty members regarding the leadership behavior of academic department chairpersons at Silpakorn University in Thailand. The Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ) was employed to assess the leadership behavior of the academic department chairpersons in terms of initiating structure and consideration. The populations included 6 deans, 31 chairpersons, and 255 faculty members who were employed at Silpakorn University during the 1982-1983 school year.
