Utilizing the debates of the German Reichstag, the proceedings of the SPD, the memoirs of the leading military and Marxist figures and the principal newspapers of the Second Reich and Weimar Republic, this dissertation attempts to show how the army chiefs and the socialist leaders of Germany altered their policies not only to promote their interests but also to protect the state.

This study deals with the growth and development of higher education in the Canal Zone from 1933 to the present. This study uses information obtained from the special Panama Collection available at the Canal Zone Public Library, government documents, letters, and administrative memoranda on file in the Agency Record Center, interviews, personal correspondence, newspapers, Panama Canal publications, minutes of meetings held by local chapters of Association of University Professors and Advisory Council, annual reports, reports made by Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, bulletins, and yearbooks.

The problem of this study was to conduct a systematic application and evaluation of the appropriateness of a computerized voice control system with a subject having the severe multihandicaps of profound mental retardation, quadriplegia, and limited communication skills. This research was an effort to establish if a computer could compensate for some of the physical limitations of the subject.

Twelve freshwater gastropod families, 39 genera and 70 fossil and Recent species are recognized and systematically treated. Keys to the families, genera and species were constructed and all species are illustrated. The purpose of this study was to synthesize and update the taxonomy, zoogeography, origins and correlations with drainage systems of the entire Recent and fossil freshwater gastropod fauna of Texas.

The National Guard in America began in the Revolutionary War. The Texas units resulted from the earlier concept and emerged in 1835 to resist Mexican oppression. Following achievement of statehood, Texas militiamen served in the Mexican War, the Civil War, and the Spanish-American War. As the twentieth century began, Texans had a long history of service in reserve military organizations in spite of a prevailing attitude of contempt for citizen soldiers held by influential regular army officials.

The problem of this study is to educe and examine philosophical ideas embedded in major models of teacher evaluation. This study is qualitative, involving the presentation and analysis of ideas which affect educational practice.
