The Permian Phosphate Deposits of Western United States (open access)

The Permian Phosphate Deposits of Western United States

From abstract: The Permian marine phosphorite deposits of the western United States were laid down in the Phosphoria formation and its partial stratigraphic equivalents over an area of about 135,000 square miles in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Nevada. The deposits in the eastern part of the field lie on the western margin of the structurally simple North American craton.

Preliminary Report on the Geology of the Tiger (Hideout) Claim, White Canyon Area, San Juan County, Utah, with Recommendations for Exploration for Geologic Information (open access)

Preliminary Report on the Geology of the Tiger (Hideout) Claim, White Canyon Area, San Juan County, Utah, with Recommendations for Exploration for Geologic Information

From introduction: The purpose of the mapping was to study the habits of the uranium minerals with relation to the geologic features of the White Canyon area, The work has been done by the U. S. Geological Survey on behalf of the Atomic Energy Commission. The Tiger claim is recommended for exploration by diamond drilling to obtain geologic information on the trend, length, depth, and width of the scour channel, and the relationship of uranium and copper minerals to the Shinarump-filled channel and to fractures.

The Effects of Camber and Leading-Edge-Flap Deflection on the Pressure Pulsations on Thin Rigid Airfoils at Transonic Speeds (open access)

The Effects of Camber and Leading-Edge-Flap Deflection on the Pressure Pulsations on Thin Rigid Airfoils at Transonic Speeds

Report discussing an investigation into the effects of camber and leading-edge-flap deflection on the pressure pulsations on thin rigid airfoils at a range of Mach numbers. The ideal camber or flap deflection was found to be dependent on Mach number and normal-force coefficient. The results of this testing, which used a 64A006 airfoil, was compared to previous testing using a 65A006 airfoil.

Effects of moderate biaxial stretch-forming on tensile and crazing properties of acrylic plastic glazing (open access)

Effects of moderate biaxial stretch-forming on tensile and crazing properties of acrylic plastic glazing

Report presenting the effects of approximately 50-percent biaxial stretch-forming on the tensile and crazing properties of polymethyl methacrylate. Results indicated that biaxially stretch-forming polymethyl methacrylate approximately 50 percent does not affect its tensile strength of secant modulus of elasticity in tension. Results regarding standard tensile tests, stress-solvent crazing tests, long-time tensile tests, discussion of mechanism of crazing, accelerated weathering tests, additional experimental work, and possible applications of stretch-forming are provided.
