A report discussing the Owens Valley Drilling project, with the goal of obtaining subsurface data relevant to the Coso Formation that would permit more reliable estimates of the uranium resources potential of the project and adjacent areas.

From abstract: This report summarizes data of the uraniferous phosphate resources of the United States in detail and of the rest of the Free World more generally (Volume 1). It also evaluates the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of production of uranium as a by-product, co-product, or single product from the uraniferous phosphate resources (Volume 2).

From abstract: Twenty-two holes totaling 34,874 feet (10,629.6 meters) were rotary and core drilled on the northern and western flanks of the San Rafael Swell to test fluvial-lacustrine sequences of the Morrison Formation and the lower part of the Chinle Formation. The objective of the project was to obtain subsurface data so that improved uranium resource estimates could be determined for the area.

This is the first volume of a two-part report on the analyses of the airborne gamma radiation and total magnetic field survey flown for the region identified as the Tooele National Topographic Map NK-12-10. This volume gives the description of the program and results.
