This newsletter states that public art is a term that challenges definition, stating that art in public places is a more accurate description. The newsletter discuss the issues and controversies surrounding public art, the first is that public art is rarely democratic and instead represents power of government. The second, public art often becomes the focus for complaints that have nothing to do with its value and the third, a call for public art to move away from the elitist, modernist aesthetic.
