The International Internet Preservation Consortium's Content Development Working Group, which is building collaborative, global, web archives on a variety of topics of interest to IIPC members, is sponsoring the "Online News Around the World: A Snapshot in Time" project. The goal is to document online news websites during one week of the year from ALL of the countries in the world, and to:
- raise global awareness of the critical need for the web archiving; raise awareness of the importance of preserving born-digital news;
- create a cohesive and comprehensive collection that will engage researchers;
- archive content from countries and regions not currently being archived by IIPC members.
